The University of Central Lancashire recently won an innovation award for using its book sortation system to cut the time it takes to get new stock to the shelves. All new shelf-ready books are unpacked and put straight through the sorter which receipts and pays for them on the library management system before sorting them for shelving. Using this new process, items should be out and available for loan on the day they arrive in the library.
